The British Fashion Council in LA, Ace Gallery

The British Fashion Council brought some of their youngest and brightest designers, including one of my favorite shoe designers Nicholas Kirkwood, to show the buyers and stylists of LA at Ace Gallery today. I loved Richard Nicoll‘s dreamy chiffons, prints and layers (see above) and Todd Lynn‘s edgy cuts and shapes. And Erdem looked even better in person, such a great line and the Spring Summer collection is GORGEOUS! Totally obsessed with it. I also got a glimpse at the show from The Date Farmers that is up at the Ace Gallery right now (see below…) Continue reading

Monday Morning Look, Market Appointments

Miss Selfridge sheer top, Topshop skirt, Bottega Veneta Mary Jane heels (maybe some cute Celeste Stein ankle socks too, they have great prints and solids) and an Orla Kiely bag. Perfect for hitting the showrooms to see collections and pull stuff for clients for the week.

Liz Taylor, Christie’s, Moca PDC

Saturday evening a very thoughtful friend of mine invited me as my birthday gift to see the Liz Taylor jewelry and dresses that are being auctioned at Christie’s in NYC in December. I went crazy over this snake diamond watch bracelet from Bulgari that was part of the collection. It didn’t say what year it was made but was estimated at a $12,000 starting bid though I imagine it will sell for so much more. It’s nice to imagine it on my arm…

Bruce Davidson, Subway

Bruce Davidson’s book of Subway photographs from the early 80’s was just reissued in August by Steidl and is being distributed by Aperature in the states. It’s amazing to look at these images and realize just how much NYC has changed. It was already nothing like this in 1995 when I first moved to the Lower East Side though in recent years it has started to revert back just a little… The photos are an incredible time capsule and on view through the end of the month at Aperture Gallery, 547 West 27th Street, 4th floor, NYC, (212) 505-5555 Continue reading

Azealia Banks, 212

Love this debut self released track (“212”) from New Yorker and Fame school graduate Azealia Banks, a 19-year-old female rapper with an electro beat vibe that will surely be all over the radio in the next few weeks (with a few bleeps added). This is a seamless killer track, the girl is amazingly talented.

Taryn in Again

I love the look Taryn wore the other night. A vintage top paired with a maxi skirt from a young line called Again that she and I both love. Again is showing their Spring Summer 2012 collection this Monday downtown at 6pm. If you look uber close Taryn is also wearing the SNOB necklace.

MOCA and The Library Murals

Wednesday night MOCA and Vanity Fair held a low key bash with food trucks and champagne to celebrate the unveiling of the West Hollywood Library murals painted by Shepard Fairey, Kenny Scharf and Retna. The crowd was a great mix of uptown and downtown in classic Jeffrey Deitch form so lots of familiar faces from both sides of the tracks. More pics below… Continue reading

Krug Champagne

Yesterday I was invited for a luncheon at the Krug House in Bel Air which sits on top of a hill overlooking Los Angeles. Krug’s Cellar Master Eric Lebel was in town for the day from France (and for the first time stateside) presiding over a casual crowd of champagne lovers and food enthusiasts (Eveliegh provided the most amazing cheeses and fois gras… Continue reading
